This is the process of my entry illustration for "Club Gastro Japón"'s illustration contest.
The theme was Japanese cuisine, so my illustration was based on soy sauce and sushi, especially on my first experience with both of them as a child.
The fish shaped bottle served not only as the soy sauce element but also a medium to show a bit of Japanese animation influence, a reference to Studio Ghibli's style when working with liquids!
I sketched the central piece on Sketchbook, cleaned the lineart, added the base colors, shadows and highlights and send all of it to Illustrator to give it the final look.
Once that was done I worked on the background with the same process as before.
